Ceramic Cremation Urn for Ashes, Copper Raku Kintsugi Funeral Vessel, SacredUrnsEtc by Susan Fontaine Pottery
$125.00
Lustre firings add beauty and value to an urn. After the piece was completed I painted bamboo with gold and fired for the third time…and then painted Mother of Pearl on it and retired for a forth time to create a lovely rainbow look! Throughout Asia and beyond the bamboo plant is revered for its strength, resilience and beauty. It has many meanings…it symbolizes good luck as it is resilient and survives the harshness of winter or difficult circumstances and is a source of inspiration and symbolizes enlightenment. I threw it on the wheel and after it was bisque and glaze fired with a crystal clear glaze, I then put it through additional lustre firings to add gold and create a rainbow effect. The lid can be permanently sealed with an epoxy or temporarily sealed with museum wax.
